VCTs

Investment Trusts

Venture Capital Trusts (VCTs) are investment companies listed on the London Stock Exchange.  They were introduced in 1995 to encourage individuals to invest in small UK companies.  They have independent directors whose objective is to protect the interests of VCT investors.

VCTs invest in a portfolio of unlisted or AIM companies (or both) in order to aid their development into a successful business and provide gains for investors.  They also offer generous tax incentives.

A VCT will typically raise between £10 million and £50 million from thousands of individual investors.

THE SMALL PRINT

The value of investments and any income they produce can fall as well as rise and past performance is not an indicator of future performance. Investors may therefore get back less than invested and should be aware of this risk before investing.
